Creating stunning textiles is what gives me life.
I remember this one time in college…
…thumbing through an art magazine at the SCAD bookstore, Ex Libris. There I saw it- I stopped dead in my tracks on a full page spread of a woman running her fingertips through a sampling of delicate textiles.
I sat down and read the full article. The article was about this textile designer, about her process of watercoloring and trying out different dying techniques. Of her mad-scientist esq approach to textile design and I just remember thinking- this. I yearned so badly to get my hands dirty again, to feel the magic of the process. To experiment.
I was already enrolled as a graphic design student and was several years into my program. But I remember thinking- yes this is the end goal.
Textile design is something that I work towards in my free time. It fills my artistic cup, so to speak, and gives me fresh inspiration to work from.
