Jen’s been making stuff since 2015.
I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, and artist who delights in creating artwork that speaks to my clients. My work is extremely diverse, from slick Adobe-generated designs to those rendered with my pencil and iPad. I especially enjoy projects that utilize an illustrative approach to graphic design to create work that feels very warm and human, with an originality no computer algorithm can match.
I first honed my skills at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where I learned to push myself, and to discover my personal aesthetic and approach—profound lessons I value to this day. Nowadays, I love collaborating with my clients, learning about their business needs, and gently guiding them through the creative process to create outcomes far beyond what they initially imagined. I especially enjoy working with clients who value a hand-rendered aesthetic, with brands that focus on sustainability, and with companies breaking the mold in education and social justice. And of course I love the actual work. Each project allows me to stretch my ablities: I get to play and experiment with new styles, colors, and technical aspects. I am rarely bored!

My portfolio is extremely diverse and includes logo and brand design, music posters, album covers, style guides, package design, and collateral for a broad array of businesses. I’m also an experienced children's book illustrator with over ten books to my credit.
Graphic Design
My main bread and butter. My graphic style is pretty eclectic. I enjoy creating graphics that feel rooted in history, be it mid-century, psychedelic, classic, minimalistic. It’s all there. I also feel very playful in this space. I believe in good research up front, and lots of time for experimentation in the process. Leave no stone un-turned.
Illustration
I was born an illustrator. It runs deep in my blood. I have illustrated over 10 children’s books and have aspirations for many more. These are illustrated either traditionally / re: watercolor, pen and ink, marker OR are rendered digitally on my iPad or Photoshop.
Surface Pattern Design
SPD gives me life. I enjoy seeing the things I’ve designed come to life in someones home, or as an item of clothing, or as a card, a pillow, some socks. It makes me so happy! I love it even more when these patterns are incorporated into package design.
Web Design
I work and strive to create websites that translate well between desktop and mobile and anticipate the audience’s needs. And, of course, I enjoy bringing handmade elements to this world.
Furniture Design
Sapele Collective is the name of the company my partner and I started in 2023. We specialize in unique home goods like shelving, vases, lighting, and tables.
Design Consulting
I definitly have an opinion and a keen eye. I am truly a design nerd in all the ways a person can be. I can help you with your companies visuals, your living room decor, your eye makeup…
As I mentioned earlier, creativity is a big part of my life, which is why my move to Austin, Texas five years ago was one of the best decisions of my life. I draw a lot of inspiration from the city, and from my home here—a cobb house on three acres of permaculture garden. I also enjoy learning and experimenting with new materials, which is why watercoloring in Austins luscious greenbelt is one of my favorite pastimes.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read a bit about me and my design and illustration work. I hope you walk away from this letter understanding my visual fingerprint, my process as designer and illustrator, and my unique brand of humanity.
